No more ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ for Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp says in an interview that there is nothing that can get him back in the Pirates of the Caribbeanfranchise. He told this during an interrogation in the context of his lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard.

Depp is suing Heard for $50 million. He says Heard’s claims in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed had destroyed his career beyond repair and cost his reputation. And that makes it impossible for him to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean-franchise.

According to Depp, that sixth film was initially in it, but Disney decided to cancel it after the opinion piece and the subsequent uproar.

Now it looks like Depp doesn’t want to return to the franchise. Heard’s attorney Ben Rottenborn asked Depp if it’s true that he wants to return to Disney “for nothing” to participate in a Pirates of the Caribbeanmovie to work.

Depp then said it was correct. “Mr. Depp, if Disney came along with $300 million and a million alpacas, is it true that even then you would say no to another Pirates of the Caribbean movie with Disney? Correct?” asked Rottenborn.

To which Depp said: “That’s right, Mr. Rottenborn.”

Rottenborn explained that, according to him, Disney had previously decided not to continue with Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
