There are changes affecting parking at Düsseldorf Airport. The advantage: In the future, passengers will no longer be able to lose their parking ticket during their journey.

Düsseldorf – Parking tickets are annoying: In order to avoid a fine, you must not lose the ticket under any circumstances. After the parking time has expired, the ticket is usually thrown away immediately and thus turns into paper waste. At Düsseldorf airport, these inconveniences will soon be a thing of the past. Visitors will soon no longer have to get a parking ticket there. Instead, the largest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia relies on a different concept. However, that is not the only change.

No more parking tickets at Düsseldorf Airport – what changes await passengers

From the middle of next year, visitors and passengers arriving by car will be able to pay for their parking ticket by providing their license plate number Rhenish Post reported. This replaces the classic paper ticket. The new payment method is expected to save around ten million paper tickets per year.

The new system then works like this: The license plate is scanned by a camera when you enter. You then have to enter your license plate number and pay at the parking machine before you leave. The camera recognizes the license plate when you exit and opens the barrier when the fee is paid.

In addition, the airport is replacing its payment machines. At many of the future ATMs you will only be able to pay by card. The conversion should be completed in the summer of 2025, according to an airport spokesman when asked Rhenish Post.
