However, this is not a first release, as it was already released in 2007 in Japan and in 2008 in the rest of the world on the Wii. Basically, the Nintendo Switch version is a remastered version of the Wii game. It’s a shame when you consider that there was a remake for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.

The game’s protagonist is Travis Touchdown, an otaku and hired killer. After you have decided on a level of difficulty, the pre-produced intro follows, which consists of various game scenes that are still to come, and roughly summarized what to expect in the game. Unfortunately, this video comes from the Wii version and has just as low a resolution as this one.
The game begins right in the mansion of Death Metal, hired killer on rank 10. After a spectacular performance, the carnage begins. As a weapon, Travis has chosen the beam katana. As the name suggests, this weapon is very reminiscent of a lightsaber from Star Wars. This is used to distribute high and low blows. You can also distribute high or low blows and kicks to stun opponents. Who got the same feeling when playing No More Heroes as the gamers of the Wii version would like to feel, this can be done with the Joy-Con controls. If you tilt the right Joy-Con upwards, you perform high attacks, if you tilt it downwards, deep attacks occur. But there is no waving around here, you only save two buttons for attacking, as additional buttons have to be pressed for high and low attacks both in handheld mode and with Pro Controller. Whereby, the thing about waving around is not entirely true: the Joy-Con can be fiddled with a little. Travis is a huge pro wrestling fan and has spent hours watching fights on videotape (yes, the game is that old). You can use suplex grips on stunned opponents and have to move both Joy-Con in the direction shown on the screen. Alternatively, the two control sticks are moved in the corresponding direction when controlling the controller. Opponents who are at the end of their tether can be executed with a targeted swing of the katana, which sets the slot machine reels in motion. If three of the same symbols are used, special modes can be activated that will be devastating for anyone who gets in Travis’ way. If you hit the lucky seven three times, you can look forward to a cash bonus at the end of the ranking battle.
