No more delayed Windows 10 updates – IT magazine

26. June 2020 –
With Windows 10 2004, Microsoft removed the function to suspend Windows updates for a long time. If you still want to delay the updates, you can resort to a workaround.

Until now, users who do not care about getting the latest Windows updates immediately had the option of suspending the updates. Corresponding options were found in the advanced options of the updates settings. Function updates, which Microsoft publishes twice a year, could be delayed for up to 365 days, while the monthly quality updates made it possible for 30 days. But with that, the import of Windows 10 2004 (aka May update) is over. The settings mentioned have disappeared and there is now only one setting available for both function and quality updates, which allows a delay of up to 35 days.

Microsoft justified the procedure with changed installation guidelines, but at least offers a workaround under Windows Pro to delay the updates via group guidelines. In the local group policies you will find the corresponding setting under Administrative Templates – Windows Components – Windows Update – Windows Update for Business. (rd)
