Donald Trump says he “writes like crazy” in his memoirs.
But none of the major publishers want to publish it, writes Politico.
– Some of the largest piles of slime in the world are owned by the publishers, the former president answers and is sure that they will want the money.
Countless books have been published about Donald Trumps four years in power – and many more are underway.
But so far the ex-president himself has not published his own story. Last week, he stated that he “writes like crazy and when the time is right, everyone will see the book of all books”.
Trump also stated that he has already turned down two offers for a book contract.
Political Politico site has been in contact with the five major American publishers. They all state that they have not offered the former president a book contract – and say they are not interested in doing so in the future.
Nightmare to fact check
– It does not matter what benefits there are with a contract with Trump, the headaches it would entail outweigh for the major publishers, says literature agent Keith Urbahn to Politico.
– A publisher brave enough to take on Trump’s memoirs is facing a nightmare to fact-check the text, an escape of other writers and a revolt among staff if they were to make it unlikely to sign a contract with the former president.
According to a report in the Washington Post from January, Donald Trump made a total of 30,573 false or misleading statements during the four years in the White House.
In a new statement to Politico The ex-president insists that he has received “very lucrative offers from two of the largest and most prestigious publishers, but declined”.
