It’s a near certaintydespite the desire to open up to the Right and the Center initiated with the appointment of the Prime Minister, no Lorrain seems to have the profile of a minister according to the criteria put forward by Emmanuel Macron. Final answer at 3 p.m. this Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
Unlike their colleagues from the Grand Est, whether they are Alsatian (Fabienne Keller) or Champardennais (Arnaud Robinet or Benoist Apparu), the elected Ministers of Lorraine this Wednesday, May 17, 2017 are very few.
The most frequently cited, with each preparation of new governments, do not seem to hold the rope, either by their doing, or if we stick to the criteria envisaged by the executive.
A little overview.
To the right
- Laurent Henart : the UDI mayor of Nancy seemed to have an excellent contact during the visit of Emmanuel Macron, then Minister of the Economy, to Nancy. Testifies to this a photo reflecting a certain complicity between the two men on the sunny balcony of the Hôtel de Ville. But Laurent Hénart has so far played the card of loyalty to commitments between UDI and Les Républicains, it is in this capacity that he welcomes this Thursday, May 17, 2017 François Baroin in Nancy and that he accompanies him to the campaign office of his education assistant and candidate for the Legislative on Nancy, Mostafa Fourar. Additional element, even if his age can play in his favor, the mayor of Nancy has always specified that for his mandate, he would work in priority in the service of the people of Nancy.
- Valerie Debord : the Republican candidate for the legislative elections in Nancy (2nd district) also said she was interested in Emmanuel Macron’s approach by appointing Edouard Philippe as Prime Minister and his age and knowledge of the files may be assets. But she is rather positioned in respect of the line of her party and despite the revenge that this would allow her to take on her colleague Nadine Morano who has already known ministerial golds, she should not attempt this adventure.
- Nadine Morano : she’s old enough, of course, but it’s difficult to make her an icon of political renewal. And the MEP remains faithful to her Les Républicains family.
To the left
- Christian Eckert (PS): Secretary of State for the budget under the previous government, he has never been unworthy and is notably the one who set up the principle of withholding tax at source. But the Meurthe-et-Mosellan is a socialist loyal to his party and moreover, Emmanuel Macron could well challenge the project of withholding tax at source
- Jean-Marc Todeschini : Also outgoing, the Mosellan Secretary of State for Veterans Affairs was also appreciated by his interlocutors. However, as loyal as Eckert to the Socialist Party, he does not seem to fit into the age criteria mentioned for the “renewal of political life“.
