Sports Watch: Press reports have revealed new developments regarding Brazilian football legend Pele’s health after he was transferred to hospital this week.
An update last Thursday said the three-time World Cup winner was in “stable” condition in hospital, with his daughter Kelly insisting there was “no cause for concern”.
However, a press service in “Folha de São Paulo” today, Saturday, stated that Pelé was no longer responding to the chemotherapy he had undergone since last September to treat intestinal cancer.
They said she is now in palliative care and will not undergo testing or surgical treatment, palliative care for patients with potentially life-threatening illnesses or conditions, and end-of-life care.
