No longer holds the position of President Commissioner of Pelita Air, this is what Michael Umbas said

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Commissioner of PT Pelita Air Services (PAS) Michael Umbas open voice regarding the change in the board of commissioners in the subsidiary company PT Pertamina (Persero).

Previously, Umbas served as the President Commissioner of Pelita Air. However, he was shifted to the position of Commissioner after the shareholders appointed the Special Staff of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Rachmat Kaimuddin, as President Commissioner.

In a press release received by Kompas.com, Friday (15/4/2022), Umbas said he accepted and did not question the sudden change in his position from President Commissioner to Commissioner.

“I was told to understand and accept this decision because there is someone Mr. LBP (Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan) who wants to be appointed as Komut,” he said in a press statement, Friday (15/4/2022).

“At that time, I also had a discussion with the Pertamina Comut. concern For the progress of Pelita Air, with his person in the Komut position, of course we will support it,” continued Umbas.

Since being appointed as the President Commissioner of Pelita Air in mid-July 2021, Umbas admitted that he had tried to do his best for Pelita Air.

Moreover, he said, at that time SOE Minister Erick Thohir asked Pelita Air to carry out business transformation and scheduled flights.

“Moreover, to enter scheduled flights, we are really careful and ask that the implementation of GCG and governance run according to the rules. Especially for procurement leasing There are many important notes that the Dekom conveys to avoid legal problems in the future,” he said.

With the existence of two Pelita Air A320 aircraft that are ready to carry out regular flights, Umbas hopes that the company can compete considering that competition on domestic routes is quite competitive.

“Pelita also had precedents before, having played on the regular but didn’t last long. Hopefully it won’t happen again,” he concluded.

Previously, PT Pelita Air Services (PAS) underwent changes in the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners. The position of President Director which was previously held by Albert Burhan is now replaced by Dendy Kurniawan, former President Director of Air Asia Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the position of President Commissioner, previously held by Michael Umbas, has now been replaced by the Special Staff of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Rachmat Kaimuddin.
