No line in formation yet, tomorrow Volt and SGP will visit Hamer

In addition to VVD leader Rutte, informateur Hamer will also receive the party leaders of Volt and the SGP, Dassen and Van der Staaij, for individual discussions. It is still unclear why these two smaller parties were invited.

In recent days, Hamer held joint talks with Rutte, D66 leader Kaag and CDA leader Hoekstra. These parties are expected to at least become part of the new cabinet, supplemented by other parties. This afternoon Hamer spoke separately with Hoekstra and Kaag.

Hoekstra said afterwards that he can still imagine that the CDA will end up in the opposition benches. According to him, it is still not the case that his party is affiliated with the ‘motor block’ of the winners of the elections, VVD and D66.

‘Engine block’

Hoekstra said earlier that he, like the VVD, is in any case not interested in collaborating with either PvdA or GroenLinks. The two sides hold each other tight in the negotiations. Hoekstra previously suggested a coalition with JA21 or the ChristenUnie. But according to him, who will actually sit at the formation table has not been discussed. “That’s not for now.”

D66 leader Kaag did not want to say after her conversation how long this phase of the cabinet formation may last. “Mrs. Hamer is making an appropriate haste.” Kaag is hopeful that the informant will soon provide advice on which parties should start the negotiations.

Hamer had been given the time by the House of Representatives until last Sunday to complete her work, but last week she asked for more time.
