The test center in Mol currently has a maximum capacity of 142 tests per day, but that number will be gradually increased to 250 to 300. The municipality writes this in a press release on Wednesday evening, after a meeting of the municipal crisis cell.
On Monday, 142 tests were taken, of which not all results have been received yet. But already 45 were positive: a positivity ratio of at least 31 percent. “A week earlier this was still 16 percent, which in itself was very high,” it sounds. “We do not yet know whether the figures from Monday were a one-off outlier or whether we should speak of a structural dike breach. However, we suspect the latter. ”
Students
According to the city council, people in their twenties and fifties in particular test positive. This could be the result of one or more infected students returning home and lighting others, for example in a sports club or via the parents.
In the past few days, there have been the first signs that the admission figures will increase at the Sacred Heart Hospital: since October 8, the number of corona patients there has risen from two to six, with one patient on intensive care.
In the coming days, it will be checked whether there are specific contamination clusters, for example in sports clubs, catering establishments or schools. “When we look at the contamination figures for the past seven days, we see the most positive results in the age groups of 21 – 30 years and 51 – 60 years. Many infections in the past week come from one sports club. In close consultation with this club, the necessary measures were taken to limit further spread. ”
The municipal crisis cell will meet again on Thursday morning. There it will be examined whether additional measures are required locally or whether all planned activities for the coming weeks can take place. “In addition, we expect stricter federal measures that will have an effective impact on the figures on Friday, October 16.”
The municipality also points out that the contamination figures in the center do not include the complete figures for the municipality. “Various GPs and practices also conduct their own tests. These results have not yet been incorporated into the 45 infections on Monday 12 October. ”
