There will be no humanitarian trip in March for final year students of ISA BTP, in Anglet. It is however, in usual time, an essential meeting of their schooling and their Human’Isa association. But the coronavirus greatly disrupts the school year: after the closure of universities in favor of video courses, the pandemic is right about the project of the 56 students who had to leave for several weeks in Madagascar for build a vocational training center for young people from the island. “It’s a little sad … it cuts us off in our tracks“confides Louis Durieublanc, responsible for funding for the association and a final year student.
We managed to digest the information, we try to move forward – Louis, student at ISA BTP
The decision to forgo the trip was made by the teaching team. The epidemic situation being very uncertain, it was difficult to envisage a move also distant in March. And canceling at the last moment would not have given the students time to turn around. The disappointment digested, they reworked their project. The work in Madasgascar will take place … and they will follow from a distance. “We will have it built by local companies“explains Yohan Naumer, communications manager.”We, in order not to remain idle (…) we are looking for alternative projects in the Basque Country. “ And there is no shortage of ideas: the path to building housing for the homeless is already well advanced.
More than 15,000 euros collected by the association
One thing is certain: the more than 15,000 euros already collected for the training center in Madagascar will not be lost. Students also continue to seek funding for their solidarity projects, with a pot and several events. Pushed back due, once again, to the pandemic and containment, their lotto will take place on February 12, their empty-dressing room on January 29, 30 and 31.
