No-fly zone above British Queen’s castle

The broadcaster reports that the police have submitted an application for a ‘no-fly zone’ above the castle in the English town of Windsor, less than 10 kilometers from the busy Heathrow Airport. The flight ban has yet to be approved. After that, it will no longer be allowed to fly below an altitude of more than 760 meters.

Concerns over the security of the royal residence arose after the armed teenager’s arrest. He tried to break in at the end of December, but was arrested almost immediately.

Revenge
The young man is said to have put a video online, according to British media. In it, he announced his intention to assassinate the queen in revenge for the 1919 Amritsar massacre. Then the British Indian Army opened fire on unarmed civilians, killing hundreds.

Tabloid The Sun reported last week about plans to impose a no-fly zone. The measure should come into effect at the end of January. The British authorities can then deploy fighter jets if an aircraft ignores the ban and does not respond to warnings. Agents guarding the castle would also be given more powers to deal with illegal drones.

The 95-year-old Queen Elizabeth has living quarters in the castle. She spent a lot of time there during the corona crisis.
