It had become a habit these last few months : on the stroke of 11 o’clock, the federal department of Health published its daily report on the number of cases, hospitalizations, deaths… reported in the last 24 hours concerning the epidemic of coronavirus in Belgium.
But while the epidemic is slowing in our country, the reports will not be published on Sundays (for the figures of Saturday) and Monday (for the figures of the Sundays). The point about the figures from this weekend will be done tomorrow/Tuesday.
The decision should rest with the people responsible for writing a report each weekend, and to relieve the hospitals. The latter will now be able to send their figures to the weekend on Monday, justified Sciensano.
Not the time to go on vacation mode of the summer
A decision that considers premature the virologist Marc Van Ranst, who was of the view, on Twitter, that”un countries with over 20 new infections per day (last week, there were on average 90 per day!) can’t afford to shift into “vacation mode “summer”. Manage what you measure! Sorry, but this must be improved!“
