Finally! The long-awaited new generation of iPhones has been unveiled by Apple. The devices are better, faster and more durable than ever before. The only downside: they are delivered without charger and earphones. And for good reason.
Apple has decided not to put a charger and earphones in the packaging of the new iPhones because it is better for the environment. If you need them, you will have to buy them yourself. Something that many people will not do because they already have their own (wireless) earphones.
The decision makes the packaging of the iPhones, which are equipped with a Lightning to USB C cable, a lot smaller. And that in turn means that there will be less CO2 emissions. “We can put up to 70 percent more products on a pallet,” says Apple’s Lisa Jackson, according to AD. “It’s like keeping 450,000 cars off the road a year.”
There will be a total of four new iPhones: the 12 Mini (810 euros), the ‘normal’ 12 (910 euros), the 12 Pro (1159 euros) and the 12 Pro Max (1259 euros). The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro will go on sale this month, the 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max will have to wait until mid-November.
