Discovering Claudio Chieffo, the great singer-songwriter who died in 2007 with almost fifty years of career behind him, 114 songs, 13 albums and over three thousand concerts all over the world: this is the journey proposed by Massimo Bernardini and “Nessun Dorma”, broadcast Monday 11 July at 9.15 pm in first viewing on Rai 5. Chieffo’s songs have been sung by thousands of people, yet his name has remained in the shadows, relegated to the margins of the music market due to his belonging to the Catholic world. Guests of the episode, the songwriters Giua and Santoianni, the virtuoso of the accordion Ambrogio Sparagna and the famous comedian and actor Gioele Dix, who in December 2021 gathered to sing the songs of Claudio Chieffo in a charity album together with the elite of the musical world Italian: from Luca Carboni – who dedicates an exclusive video message to No Dorma – to Paolo Fresu, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Omar Pedrini, Davide Van De Sfroos, Giovanna Marini, Giorgio Conte and many others. Alongside Massimo Bernardini and his guests in this tribute, the music critic Michele Monina and Benedetto Chieffo, creator and promoter of the charity project dedicated to his father. Thus emerges the secular and joyful portrait of a character outside the box, friend of Gaber and Guccini and enemy of consumerism and superficiality. To crown the memory of the singer-songwriter the live performances of Giua with “Amare Ancora” and of Santoianni with “On the hill”, accompanied by the strings of the Cavalazzi brothers and the piano by Emanuele Sartoris.
