The long-awaited shareholders’ meeting at Beerschot has not yet taken place. In fact, it is not even on the agenda for the time being. However, the Flemish shareholders insist on it. But they wait in vain for news from Geneva, where United World is based.

Last Thursday, Beerschot announced in a statement on the website that a number of important decisions were made during a long board meeting. For example, the resignation of chairman Francis Vrancken was accepted and the mandate of Thorsten Theys was confirmed. He has been tasked with planning the necessary financial investments in the coming weeks and months and will be supported by board member Gunther Dieltjens. This specifically concerns the daily operation of the club, the follow-up of the license file and the preparation for the 2024-2025 season.

In addition, it was also decided last week that a shareholders’ meeting would take place in “the coming days”. In that meeting, the budgets for next season can be finalized and discussions can take place about a possible sale of the club or a reshuffling of the club’s shares. The Flemish shareholders in particular are pushing for this, but they are waiting in vain for an answer from Geneva. Majority shareholder United World is located there. The Saudi holding company, which owns 75 percent of Beerschot, is still watching the cat out of the tree. The shareholders’ meeting did not take place this week. For the time being it is also very unclear when it will take place. There is no specific date. And so sponsors, trainers, players and supporters remain in the dark about the future of the club for a while longer.
