No date set for the arrival of anti-Covid vaccines for children from 5 to 11 years old – El Sol de México

The Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López Gatell, reported that, at the moment, there is no set date for the arrival of the Pfizer pharmaceutical vaccines that will be destined for children between the ages of five and 11. year old.

This was stated during a press conference from the National Palace, where he explained that the pertinent negotiations for the arrival of the drug are still continuing, in addition to defining the conditions of delivery and purchase of the amount of doses.

“About pediatric vaccines, vaccines for the population from five to 11 years old. We have been in formal talks with the Pfizer company, to define the delivery conditions and the quantity of vaccines”, he pointed out.

In this tenor, he indicated that the Health sector considers the entire sector of the population that applies as a candidate to receive the vaccine.

On May 26, the official declared that the Mexican government is waiting for the next batch of vaccines, which will be destined for this sector of the population.

The pharmaceutical company Pfizer is one of the few that are approved by the WHO to apply it to the younger sector of the population.

Given the rise in infections that occurs in the territory, López Gatell called on the population not to lower their guard since the pandemic is not over yet.
