Due to the verifications made by the staff, the bibliographic collection has not suffered serious damage so far from the Covid-19 pandemic, said the head of the Coordination of Public Libraries of the state, Máximo Juárez Texis.
He said that so far the dust, humidity or fungi have seriously damaged the books, magazines, collections and other material of the 140 libraries in the entity.
There is no damage, because at least once a week the librarians went to check the libraries, to check that nothing happened and they did cleaning. No problem of that kind, Held.
Juárez Texis confirmed that in pursuit of the care of the bibliographic collection, the network of libraries cleans the facilities and reviews the books, this in view of the total reopening of the spaces.
It is so that soon we will have the opportunity to open gradually and without risks. There are many people who have not been, we are making tours to order the cleaning tasks. In the following week we would be opening the Central Library.
He also said that this week the Central Library will begin its actions to clean up the bibliographic collection.
He specified that there are 50 libraries open, following agreements with the municipal authorities. He clarified that so far they have no reports of possible cases of contagion due to the opening of these spaces, as those responsible have in practice preventive hygiene measures and loan of books at home, in addition to disinfecting the facilities every day.
There are no infections in the libraries, or among the staff, as they are with the essentials to take care of themselves and clean the places. Two workers have been infected but it was because of their responsibility because they did not attend,
