The Bavarian Zugspitzbahn does not receive any support from the federal corona aid. The board of directors of the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn (BZB), Matthias Stauch, is disappointed about the lack of support for the mountain railways in Bavaria and the other federal states.
Cable cars do not have any special regulations
The Ministry of Economic Affairs has rejected special regulations in the design of the Corona aid measures for the entire German cable car industry. The Bavarian Zugspitzbahn has not received any state aid in addition to a one-off down payment, writes Stauch in a message.
No aid from the state for the Zugspitzbahn
Because the Zugspitzbahn belongs to the market town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen – and thus the public sector – it does not receive any bridging aid II and III from the state. Accordingly, the company cannot expect any financial help here either. In the last financial year they were able to generate a plus, for the current financial year they have to add to the reserves. The mountain railway was not yet able to present exact figures for the 2019/20 financial year on Thursday.
The existence of the cable car company is threatened
Three members of the FDP parliamentary group from several federal states had made a parliamentary question about Corona aid for ski lift operators. The independent State Secretary Ulrich Nussbaum from the Federal Ministry of Economics has now informed the applicants that there is no separate help for ski lift and mountain railway operators.
Many cable car companies are threatened in their existence, Stauch – who is also the board member of the Association of German Cable Cars – has recently said several times.
