The next Consultation Committee devoted to the follow-up to be given to the health crisis linked to the coronavirus will ultimately not take place next Friday, May 6, announced on Sunday the Minister of Public Health, Frank Vandenbroucke.
“I spoke through and through”, admitted Minister Vooruit during the Sunday program De Zevende Dag of the VRT channel. Mr. Vandenbroucke had mentioned Tuesday the date of May 6 for this meeting of Codeco bringing together representatives of the federal governments and federated entities. But it does not suit the agendas of several participants, he explained on Sunday, adding that no new date had been set.
The objective, however, is to hold this meeting “relatively quickly”, added the minister. If the coronavirus pandemic continues to evolve favorably, the barometer could be put “in the drawer”, he said on Tuesday. Since March 7, the corona barometer has been placed in code yellow, which means that almost all health measures intended to slow the spread of the virus have been lifted. The next Codeco should further relax the rules currently in force, such as the compulsory wearing of a mouth mask in public transport. Most indicators are currently down (hospitalizations, intensive care and deaths), except for the number of cases, according to the latest data published by the Sciensano Public Health Institute.
