Big Brother he did not win, but Kristof Timmermans (30) from Stabroek is not in the least sad. He was especially happy that he could be home again on Sunday. “At the moment I don’t miss the House at all, just give me quiet fields with horses and goats”, he laughs.

Dutchman Salar went home with 69,000 euros. Kristof, the only compatriot in the final, was third. “I have already recovered from that exciting Saturday”, it sounds on the phone. “I didn’t win, but I feel fine. However it was a short night. I was barely in bed for 2.5 hours. After the shooting there was a party in the hotel around the corner. I didn’t hold back but partied a little more modestly than others. It started off slowly but eventually all brakes were released.”
In the final Kristof shot over with Grace and Salar. Was he beginning to hope a little for the top prize? “You always hope, otherwise you don’t participate. On the other hand, I was realistic. I soon realized that I was up against two strong Dutchmen. I knew I was the underdog and that I would have to put my best foot forward for the top prize. But bronze isn’t bad either. It was difficult to estimate how popular I was with the viewers. In the first week I was already nominated, but the viewers kept me in the game. In the weeks that followed, I was never nominated again, so I could never estimate how many fans I had.”
After a stay of 84 days in the same small area, suddenly stepping back into the outside world must feel strange. “I had more stress to get out again than before that final. You don’t know what’s going on outside. In the long run, we have been informed about the war in Ukraine. Suddenly hearing such messages was fucked up† When I entered the Big Brother house around New Years, we were still full of corona measures. I thought they would still apply and suddenly I was allowed to touch and hug everyone again. I was also very grateful to embrace my parents and my girlfriend. The first minutes were unreal, but I quickly clicked in my head.”
Is it Monday for Kristof business as usual† “I’m going to have a few weeks and see what my options are. I want to explore the opportunities the ‘new’ life gives me, and I am already looking forward to a new adventure. Whatever that may be. Gaining fame wasn’t the main reason I entered Big Brother† The main motivation was mainly taking part in the adventure and getting to know myself better. But if that would also give me extra opportunities as an artist (Kristof is Schlagerzanger, red) I wouldn’t pass it up.”
Whatever else is on the schedule: all episodes of Big Brother review. “We already saw a few images in the house, each time edited and provided with music. I thought that was very interesting to watch. I’m going to make some time soon to binge watch a series of episodes at a fast pace.”
