No bomb found on man threatening to detonate bomb at US Congress / Day

The detainee has been identified as 49-year-old Floid Ray Rosebury of North Carolina. He is thought to be a right-wing extremist.

Roosbury had stopped in his pickup truck at the Library of Congress building and posted a series of unrelated threats on Facebook and demanded a conversation with US President Joe Biden. He cursed Democrats, expressed dissatisfaction with the US government and its policy in Afghanistan, and threatened a “revolution.”

He also claimed that if the police used force against him, he would detonate an explosive in his possession and bombs would be detonated in four more places in Washington.

After several hours of talking to the police, Roosbury surrendered and was detained.

The bomb was not found in his car, but it contained materials that could possibly be used to make an explosive, police added.

During the incident, traffic in the area was shut down and thousands of people were evacuated from nearby buildings.
