From next year it will be possible to take out a flexible subscription with the NMBS: one tailored to commuters who only go to the office two or three times a week.

For people who no longer find a standard subscription interesting, the railway company NMBS will introduce a flexible train subscription from next year. The NMBS expects that the impulse that covid-19 has given to teleworking will continue.
A pilot project took place last June in which 6,000 to 7,000 employees took part. That turned out to be a great success, writes The evening.
Of the tested employees, 2,600 opted for the new flexi subscription. 80 percent opted for the annual subscription and 20 percent for a monthly subscription.
When asked what type of telecommuting plan travelers would choose, 65 percent of employees opted for two days of telecommuting. 35 percent opted for the option of teleworking for three days. According to NMBS, these figures indicate how important teleworking has become.

With the so-called Flex Subscription, the customer can choose to travel 80 or 120 days within a period of 12 months to and from a fixed workplace, or 6 or 10 days per month. The commuter has to select the days in advance, the train conductor then checks them using a QR code. The Flex Subscription is only for smartphone users, the existing paper subscriptions will continue to exist.
The flexible formulas are cheaper than the existing standard subscriptions, which now allow travelers to travel between two stations every day of the week. For 120 days you pay 82 percent of the price, for 80 days that is 62 percent.
