Brussels’ Pierre De Maere was nominated for the best male French-language artist, but the prize went to Slimane. Singer-songwriter Mentissa from Denderleeuw in East Flanders was unable to cash in on her nominations in the categories ‘French-language clip’ and ‘female French-language artist’. The prizes went to Bigflo & Oli and Vitaaa respectively. Last year Angèle won the prize for the best singer.
Angèle was nominated this year in the ‘French-language tour’ category, but that award went to M Pokora. Finally, rappers Hamza and Damso were nominated in the ‘Social Hit’ category, but had to leave the prize to Jain.
Just like last year, the NMAs also reward Belgian artists in the separate category ‘Belgian revelation of the year’. Last year the award went to Pierre De Maere. This year the Brussels Saskia, the singer Sola, the Antwerp Dystinct and the duo Colt have a chance. The winner will be announced on Monday on radio station NRJ.
