NM State Football Team Looks to Continue Winning Streak against Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

The NM State football team will try to win its fourth game in a row tonight as they play the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in Ruston, Louisiana.

The game will kick off at 5 p.m. Mountain Time and will be broadcast locally on 99.5 FM with Aggie Hall of Famer Jack Nixon and Cory Lucas on the radio call. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

The Aggies are 5-3 on the season and 3-1 in Conference USA play. The Bulldogs are 3-5 on the season and 2-2 in Conference USA. The only common opponents so far for NM State and La Tech are UTEP and Florida International, which both teams beat. The Aggies beat FIU 34-17 and La Tech beat them 22-17. La Tech beat UTEP 24-10. The Bulldogs last played Oct. 10, when they lost to Middle Tennessee State 31-23.

Since head coach Jerry Kill took over the Aggies in 2022, the month of October has been friendly to the men in crimson and white.
With last Wednesday’s road victory at UTEP, the Aggies are now 3-0 this October and now move to 5-1 in the 10th month of the year across the last two seasons. This season, the Aggies have outscored their opponents 89-37 while averaging 445.3 yards of offense and holding opposing offenses to just 356.0 yards per game, to rank first among CUSA teams in October. Additionally, teams have scored only 12.33 points per game against the Aggies during their three October games.

With a 5-3 mark, the Aggies need to win two of their remaining five games to become bowl-eligible.

Conference USA has a tie-in with the New Mexico Bowl, which will be played Saturday, Dec. 16, in Albuquerque. Obviously, a lot of things can happen between now and then, but Athlon Sports, in its Oct. 22 bowl projections report, listed New Mexico State and Boise State as its likely New Mexico Bowl showdown.

The Aggies have just two home games left, both on Saturdays in November: a 4 p.m. start against Middle Tennessee for Homecoming Nov. 4, and a 2 p.m. start against Jacksonville State Nov. 25.
