New Japan Pro Wrestling unveiled the participants for its grand annual individual tournament for wrestlers under 100kg. «Best of the Super Jr. 29».
This happened in the course of the “Wrestling Dontaku 2022” function held at the Fukuoka PayPay Dome.
For this edition, NJPW will have the participation of fighters from other latitudes, since the sanitary measures for COVID-19 and the trips of foreigners to the Far East have been relaxed.
The competition will start on May 15 in Aichi and will end on June 3 at the Budokan Hall with a total of 20 competitors. The winner of the 2021 edition was Hiromu Takahashi and the current monarch of the category is Taiji Ishimori.
Among the foreign faces that will see action are Alex Zayne, Ace Austin from Impact Wrestling, Titan from CMLL, Wheeler Yuta from AEW and El Lindaman from GLEAT. There will also be elements of NJPW Strong, such as Clark Connors and TJP. And the debut face of NJPW, the Italian Francesco Akira.
The fighters have already been divided into two groups and only the meeting schedule remains to be known. There are several new faces in this competition, such as Zayne, Austin, Akira, Yuta, Connors and the spectacular Lindaman, who are participating for the first time. TJP returns after eleven years of absence. The Mexican Titan will have his third tournament, before that he participated in the 2013 and 2019 editions
