NJ Transit will not raise fares this week

If you’re thinking of going out of town this week, you might be interested in enjoying the last days of summer in New Jersey.

And this week, the fare will be waived for all New Jersey Transit service.

Starting tomorrow and until September 2, all bus, train and tram journeys from that group will be free.

Customers who purchased monthly passes for the month of August will receive a 25 percent discount for the month of September.

This is an effort to combat serious disruptions in train service this summer.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy blamed Amtrak for the delays and cancellations.

The group also increased rates by 15 percent last month.
