Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is taking on the challenging task of forming a united opposition front to contest against the ruling party in the upcoming general elections in 2024. In his journey to accomplish this challenging task, he will continue with his visits to Kolkata and Lucknow on Tuesday. He has an agenda to meet leaders who were not keen on sharing space with Congress in a united opposition front. However, his journey will be the most difficult as they have past associations with Congress. The Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav are on his list. Despite knowing these facts, Mr Kumar is known for his rapport with leaders across the board and has taken on the tough task. The Congress is handling the current allies and friendly parties, while Mr Kumar’s game plan is to field a single opposition candidate against the BJP in every seat of the country to prevent a split in the opposition vote. This formula has worked in 1977 and 1989.
