Nitish Kumar-led JDU Set to Join NDA in Bihar Today: Crucial Meetings and Political Maneuvering in Patna

Patna: Nitish Kumar-led JDU may join NDA in Bihar today. Crucial meetings of JDU, Congress and BJP parties will be held in Patna today. Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President J.P. Nadda will also reach Bihar today.

Local media reports that the secretariat in Bihar will continue to function today despite it being a holiday. A meeting of BJP MLAs will be held at 9 am and a JDU parliamentary party meeting will be held at 10 am today in Patna.

It is indicated that the party leadership has not been able to contact about seven Congress MLAs on phone. JDU had yesterday claimed that they have the support of some Congress MLAs. In this situation, the Congress move is to prevent MLAs from defecting.

The Congress will meet today, which was adjourned after all the MLAs did not arrive yesterday. AICC-appointed observer Bhupesh Baglin’s visit to Patna is also aimed at securing the support of the Hindustani Awami Morcha and preventing the leakage of MLAs from his own party.

Unofficial reports claim that Nitish Kumar, who is leaving after breaking the India Front and the Mahaghat Bandhan, will take oath as the Chief Minister again this evening. Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda will arrive in Bihar after postponing their visit to Bengal. Lalu Prasad Yadav-led RJD is also planning counter moves if Nitish Kumar meets the governor.
