Nitish Kumar: All eyes are on Nitish in Bihar, will the alliance break or will the government continue with RJD?

Patna. Bihar Political Crisis: All eyes are on Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) President Nitish Kumar, who is moving towards changing sides for the second time in less than three years. But ignoring the appeal of the Grand Alliance constituents, he is maintaining silence on this uproar and is busy in his work as usual. Chief Minister Kumar started the day on Saturday by flagging off several new fire fighting vehicles at the city’s Veterinary College grounds. He then visited Buxar to inaugurate the beautification project of a famous temple. This program was of Tourism Department and this department is with Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, but he was not present in this program.

People present at this program included senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey. Choubey refused to comment on the ongoing political turmoil in Bihar. Meanwhile, BJP state unit in-charge Vinod Tawde has blamed Congress for the possibility of separation of Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) from the opposition alliance ‘India’. Senior JD (U) leader and spokesperson K. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, C. Tyagi made it clear that the Grand Alliance government in Bihar is on the verge of collapse and accused a section of the Congress leadership of repeatedly “insulting” Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

INIDA block is on the verge of collapse
Tyagi said, “The opposition alliance ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (India) is also on the verge of collapse. The alliance of parties involved in ‘India’ in Punjab, West Bengal and Bihar has almost ended.” After Kumar’s return to Patna, top JD(U) leaders have started coming to the official residence of the party president. Kumar is expected to resign from the post of Chief Minister and stake claim to form a new government with the support of BJP. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders also gathered at the residence of National Vice President and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi at 10, Circular Road. All party leaders were asked to deposit their mobile phones outside the gate of the residence.

RJD is looking for options
Sources claiming to be aware of the developments said that discussions were held about the strategy to be adopted by Chief Minister Kumar in case of breaking the alliance. Some RJD leaders are in favor of staking claim to form the new government and are hopeful that the ‘grand alliance’ can garner the support of eight MLAs to achieve the majority mark. But others, including Tejashwi Yadav, do not seem to agree with this idea, because JD (U) and BJP together have more than 122 members in the 243-member assembly.
