Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Association of Motor Vehicle Industries (Gaikindo) monthly car sales for January 2023 decreased compared to December 2022. Meanwhile, compared to the same period in 2022 there was an increase.
In January, Toyota still led sales with Lexus in January 2023 selling 28,996 units. Then overshadowed by Daihatsu with 18,194 units, followed by Honda with 15,753 units.
However, there are brands whose sales in January 2023 were quite depressed, such as Wuling which sold 586 units. Meanwhile, Nissan was the most depressed with sales of only 140 units, or an average of 4-5 units sold per day.
Car sales in Indonesia are indeed quite concerning, throughout 2022 only 2,413 units were sold. The highest sales occurred in February 2022, which recorded 340 units, and the lowest was recorded at 116 units in May 2022.
Meanwhile, Hyundai recorded quite good sales in January 2023 selling 4,067 units. There was a significant increase compared to December 2022 which recorded 2090 units.
