Nissan has unveiled the Z Proto concept car. The car is very close to the production version, the characteristics of which will be published soon. But the most important thing in it is not this fact, but the delight that Z Proto causes among fans of the legendary Datsun 240Z:
At the same time, Nissan somehow managed to make the car at the same time similar to this Datsun (due to its popularity, the car was later transferred under the parent brand), and to the last 350Z and 370Z.
To be honest, I am amazed by two things in this car: the continuity of generations and the simplicity of forms, in which there is nothing superfluous.
Our designers have made countless sketches, studying each generation and their success. In the end, we decided that the Z Proto should travel through the decades, including the future of the model.

Inside there is a combination of different generations: a digital 12.3-inch dashboard, several USB Type-C ports, there is CarPlay, Android Auto, Alcantara on the seats, sports instruments in the central part of the dashboard:
Especially door handles with air intakes are delivered to me – this is a clear reference to the Nissan 350Z and 370Z, as well as normal analog knobs that you can touch and feel with your hands! Well top it is!
And here is a seemingly simple interior, but does not look boring. How did it happen?
There is no information about the power unit of the serial version, but the prototype received a V6 biturbo engine, working in tandem with a six-speed “mechanics”. If this is going to be a classic Fairlady successor, it should be rear-wheel drive.

But when I ran around the studio for all my colleagues with the words “look what a top Nissan”, they asked me if it was electric.
And indeed: the simplicity of the body very strongly evokes thoughts about the electrical component of the car. It is somewhat similar to the minimalistic Tesla. And my question is, why is this car not electric?
Car design is a great example of retro-futurism. And I am extremely happy that he will soon be driving on the roads. But why will it rattle, and not whistle barely noticeably? Nissan, this “Z” clearly needs an electric version.
The lack of news on the electric version isn’t the only bad news. The production version of the Nissan Z Proto, which will go on sale in 2021–2022, will not be sold in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus or Kazakhstan. And in Europe in general. The point is in the tightening standards for the environmental safety of car engines. But if, nevertheless, the electric version comes out, then maybe it will reach our markets?
