Nissan Joins the Electric Revolution: Plans to Sell Only Electric Cars in Europe by 2030

Nissan is the latest manufacturer to join the list of those who say they will sell only electric cars in Europe from 2030. The Japanese have the electric Leaf and Ariya in the range and more models will follow, including a small city car and a compact SUV.

Nissan will stop selling combustion engine cars in Europe from 2030, and the company says it will launch 19 electric models globally over the next seven years.

“There is no turning back,” Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida said of the clear electrification direction.

Nissan will launch a small class electric SUV and an electric version of the Micra model. Models such as the Juke, Qashqai and Nissan X-trail will have electric versions in the coming years.

The Nissan Leaf was the world’s best-selling 100% electric car for several years before Tesla Motors became a force.

Renault, Opel and Ford are among the brands that will sell only electrics.
