NIPH and the Prime Minister: The pandemic is not over in Norway

– There are very few who are admitted to hospital, and less than a couple of thousand infected who are detected per week. The numbers are declining rapidly at the same time as more and more people are being vaccinated. We will see some small outbreaks here and there, but we know how to stop them within three to four weeks, says Aavitsland to NRK.

He says we can start preparing for a daily life where the corona has very little place in our lives.

FHI emphasizes in one press release that the pandemic is not over.

– It is too early to state from FHI’s side that this pandemic is over in Norway. Preben Aavitsland has today also specified that we have the sprint again. But it is a very gratifying development that both the number of infections and positive tests is declining, and that the incidence of new hospital admissions and intensive care units has been stably low in recent weeks, says director of FHI, Camilla Stoltenberg.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg tells NRK that it is important not to take the pleasures in advance. She says it is important that we do not stumble on the run.

– It may be that someone thinks that they should stop getting vaccinated, or take the party that the authorities say you should not take. So it’s a little silly if we send such signals. I experience that Aavitsland does not, but it is important that we are now clear in the communication, Solberg says to NRK.

– We can get rid of the pandemic in the autumn if nothing happens internationally, if everyone who is to be vaccinated does so and if we do not stumble on the run, Solberg says.
