The Norwegian Directorate of Health and NIPH propose to repeal the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ travel advice for the EEA, Schengen and the United Kingdom. At the same time, the use of quarantine hotels will be limited.

It is clear from the Norwegian Directorate of Health and the National Institute of Public Health’s recommendations to the government on stage three in the reopening of Norway.
Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a global travel council in place to avoid travel that is not strictly necessary to all countries.
The Norwegian Directorate of Health and NIPH are now proposing to replace this with a dissuasion of travel that is not strictly necessary to countries outside the EEA, Schengen and the United Kingdom. This can be further strengthened with stricter guidelines for unprotected and for travel to countries with a high incidence of infection, and especially countries with a high prevalence of virus variants.
The two bodies also recommend exemptions from quarantine hotels for travelers from countries in the EEA, Schengen and the United Kingdom, provided that the level of infection in the country you come from is below 500 per 100,000 in the last two weeks.
The stay at quarantine hotels is also recommended to be shortened for other countries.
