Nipah Outbreak in Kozhikode: Educational Institutions Declared Holiday, Containment Zones Identified

Kozhikode: Due to the reported outbreak of Nipah, educational institutes in Kozhikode district have been declared holiday on Saturday as well. The holiday will be applicable to all educational institutions including professional colleges in the district.

Kozhikode has declared a holiday for today and tomorrow. In addition to this, District Collector A Geetha has also ordered the temporary suspension of all public programs scheduled for the next ten days. Weddings, receptions, festivals, festivals and cultural and sports events all have restrictions.

It is suggested that mass events should be reduced to events involving as few people as possible. It has also been proposed to postpone art, cultural and sports competitions including drama where the public gathers.

Meanwhile, 11 more wards in four panchayats of Kozhikode district have been declared as containment zones due to Nipah outbreak. The panchayats of Thiruvallur, Kayakodi, Changaroth and Pumaari have been recently declared as containment zones.

This is in addition to the seven panchayats announced earlier. New treatment guidelines have also been released following the Nipah outbreak. Quarantine was made mandatory for those in direct contact with patients.

Anyone with a fever should seek treatment immediately. The new treatment guidelines also say that the infection control system should be properly implemented in hospitals.
