Niort – Tom Lebeau looks back on his aborted loan in Greece

While he was supposed to leave the Chamois for the Apollo Pontou club, in the Greek second division, Tom Lebeau ultimately remains at Niort for the end of the season. FIFA did not validate the operation because of a missing document in the loan file. The midfielder, hero of the second leg of the play-offs League 2 last year, therefore trains with the CNFC reserve.

“All the papers were signed on the side of Niort, and I heard that everything was settled in Greece. Around 11pm, it was done in my mind and I had to leave the next day. Eventually, I got a call from my agent who informed me that a document had overrun. We waited about ten days to get the verdict from FIFA, which was negative. I was sure I wanted to leave, so I was waiting for a positive outcome. I was quite happy with this opportunity, even if the Greek D2, we don’t really know where it can lead. It was above all a matter of leaving Niort. The more time passed, the worse it smelled for me to leave. »

« I am remotivated in Niort, this story belongs to the past. I knew it was going to fizzle out after a while, so I prepared for it and walked away with the stash. My future for the next six months is settled, I will remain in reserve. I was leaving to discover something else, another country, another culture, another football certainly. It wasn’t necessarily a question of level. »
