The Chamois Niortais confirmed their good first part of the season with a convincing success in front of Pau (3-0) this Tuesday evening during the 19th day of League 2. After the match, the coach Sebastien Desabre was necessarily satisfied with the face displayed by his team, and more generally throughout the first leg.

“We knew it was going to be a match that would be played at very little. It has been. We struggled to manage their right side, we hunkered down, we gradually came back into the game. Then in the second half, we had a peak, helped by the fact of scoring quickly. We had a very good second half. We were able to alternate the good defense and the counter, especially on Merdji’s goal. We had periods of possession to manage the result. We managed the game well. We didn’t panic to get back into the game and win 3-0. We are having a good start to the season, we are ahead of last year, we end with a good home performance with our attackers scoring. We have to improve in many areas, but we are still much more consistent within the game. Our weak times are getting shorter and shorter.
Over the first 19 days, I liked the cohesion of the group: everyone fights for the collective. It’s the hardest part, actually. Especially here, you can think that some players have individual projects, and that’s normal because they are young. But it is in the collective that everyone will continue to progress. We have cohesion in relation to our common project. What I liked less? The few situations where we concede goals from the set phase during a few matches. But if we finish 7th in the first leg, it’s because we did more good things than bad. We played 10 away games, we have 10 left at home, and I remember that we have a positive goal average, it’s a good sign. We will recover well, but there is nothing to win. The winter transfer window? We shouldn’t be the most active (laughs). We are happy to work with this group. »
