Chinese start-ups have so far remained fairly discreet about their ambitions in North America. Nio could be one of the first to come forward and is visibly planning to set up a factory in the United States.
In parallel with its continued establishment in Europe, Nio is probably preparing its entry into the North American market. An entry that could be made immediately through the front door, with the creation of a factory on site.
For now, Nio has not confirmed anything officially. On the other hand, the list of positions to be filled within the company is quite clear. The Chinese manufacturer is looking for experienced personnel in industrialization, logistics and infrastructure abroad. Some positions even clearly mention the need for experience in North America or the need to master American regulations and procedures.

Nio already has a research center in California. The last positions quite clearly correspond to a need to select and then set up an industrial site. The latter could start as a simple assembly site of the CKD or SKD type (Complete Knocked Down or Semi-complete Koncked Down) before moving towards more integrated production.
Nio is at the very beginning of the formalization of its project and we can expect an announcement at the end of the year during the next Nio Day. Its vehicle offer is in any case already well suited to the needs of the American market with large SUVs and sedans.
