JAKARTA – Nintendo and Super Nintendo creator Masayuki Uemura is closing his age, as reported by TechRadar (9/12).
At the age of 78, the principal architect of Nintendo’s first console, the NES and its successor, the SNES, passed away on December 6.
In Japan, the NES and SNES are known as the Famicom and Super Famicom.
Uemura started his project with Nintendo in 1981, and is the producer of titles such as Ice Climber and Golf.
Uemura himself retired from Nintendo in 2004, but is still involved in the game industry he loves.
He is also the director of the Center for Game Studies at Ritsumeikan University in Japan.(ruf/fin)
