Nintendo Wins Legal Battle Against Yuzu Emulator Creators: Settlement Details Revealed

Following the news about the pre-trial settlement agreement between the creators of the Switch emulator and Nintendo, documents appeared with the demands of the Japanese corporation:

  • An injunction has been placed on the distribution of Yuzu, its sources or code fragments.
  • Emulator authors are prohibited from creating software that bypasses the security of Nintendo consoles in the future (in the past, the team has already worked on Citra, a Nintendo 3DS emulator).
  • The creators of the emulator will refuse all domains associated with Yuzu.

In addition, Tropic Haze will pay Nintendo $2.4 million. In essence, this means a complete cessation of development of the emulator, but 3 hours ago the program received an update on the official website. Apparently, it’s the latter.

The makers of the Yuzu emulator were sued by Nintendo last month. The platform holder claimed that Yuzu “promotes piracy on a colossal scale.”

No matter what the emulator developers decide, Yuzu remains available for download. Only on our website you can download all current versions of the program for Windows, Linux and even Android for free.
