Nintendo wins $2.1 million in lawsuit against ROM site

According to information from TorrentFreak, a Nintendo won the lawsuit against Matthew Storman, Website owner ROMUniverse, which hosted the company’s pirated games.

Storman, who decided not to hire a lawyer and defend himself, was sentenced for copyright infringement and now owes Nintendo about $2.1 million.

During the trial, which began in 2019, Storman defended himself only by denying the accusations, claiming that he had never distributed pirated titles. The arguments were refuted by Nintendo’s legal team, who presented evidence that ROMUniverse not only uploaded such a thing, but also charged a premium subscription to users.

The ROMUniverse website was taken down after the controversy.
