As we know, the smaller proposition finally hit the market and turned out to be a good option for players expecting only portable gameplay, but we are still waiting for a stronger body. In recent weeks, all the largest websites have informed about the upcoming PROsiak, but Nintendo is replacing the screen instead of revealing the expected device. Nintendo Switch OLED collects mixed opinions for a reason, but I am sure that it will be another producer’s success, because this platform is not driven by power, but by relevant games, which are still in abundance since 2017.
Nintendo Switch OLED – first impressions are positive, but … This equipment is not for everyone
Nintendo decided to make a move that nobody expected. We could be sure that a new device was coming, but many players hoped that the predictions of, among others, the Bloomberg editorial office would come true and that a console would actually appear on the market that would provide developers with the opportunity to use additional power. Instead, already in October, there will be equipment that will offer players a better screen and … He supposedly really makes a difference. The first opinions of journalists have already appeared, mentioning that OLED on the Nintendo Switch looks great and will offer a new quality of gameplay. Editors could not prepare comparisons, but we can be sure that such materials will appear before the premiere.
Journalists, however, agree that yes Nintendo Switch OLED offers improvements that are not suitable for everyone. If you are players who like to connect the device to the big screen and prefer to grab the Pro Controller in your hand instead of the Joy-Con, then you will not get any news in this situation. The Japanese equipment makes the most sense when you want to reach for a new platform – and you did not have a Nintendo Switch before.
You can even get the impression that this is Nintendo’s approach … The company is going to throw a better dock into its store – if you have a classic model and want to use the Ethernet port, you will simply buy a new station. This is definitely a good solution for customers, but it clearly shows that Nintendo does not want to focus solely on the OLED model in the coming years. The words surprised many players, but it shows that Nintendo Switch OLED, according to Nintendo itself, is not intended for every fan of electronic gameplay.

But what about all these reports about a more powerful model? Nintendo mentions that it still intends to develop its platform, but the corporation has never confirmed work on a more powerful device. However, Takashi Mochizuki from Bloomberg and several other respected journalists received information that the improved Nintendo Switch model is actually being created … And even the first developers were asked to develop their games in the 4K version. Where is this mythical lump in this situation?
According to the latest theory, the semiconductor crisis caused the Nintendo did not want to complicate the matter and throw fewer devices on the market. The company would put its customers in an embarrassing situation, because the equipment would surely be enormously popular, and the Japanese would not be able to live up to expectations. It is apparently for this reason that the OLED version has now appeared, which, according to Nintendo itself, is not for everyone, but only an alternative – a great option for players who have not had a hybrid platform so far. OLED is also to be only a “stop” and a preview of what in terms of the screen we can expect in the future – because apparently Pro is still coming … Interesting details were also presented by Digital Foundry – according to the British Developers receive the third Nintendo Switch devkit from Nintendo. The ADEV model is to be used alongside SDEV and EDEV, but the latest proposal has as much as 8GB of RAM – so far, game developers could use 6GB, and the copies available to players have 4GB. This situation also fuels rumors that Nintendo plans to significantly refresh its platform.
However, there are also voices according to which Nintendo will wait even 2022 to offer a true successor to the Nintendo Switch in the future – not only a slightly stronger platform, but a console that can receive a significantly improved design.
The Japanese are undoubtedly facing a difficult task, because on the one hand it is difficult to divide such a thriving community that grows from month to month, but on the other … Nintendo Switch needs more power. The best confirmation of these words is the last premiere of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin – a great game suffers on the Nintendo platform. Some imperfections will be covered with further updates, but these problems will keep coming back.
We already know about many strong, announced first-party games that will hit the Nintendo Switch in 2022, probably more titles have not been discovered, and third-party developers are also not idle. Nintendo Switch is a brilliant platform, but there are more and more developers who say directly – they cannot upload their games to this console due to the lack of power. The cloud remains a solution, but this solution cannot be used by all players.

I am one of those players who can confidently say: “I did not count on such a Switch”, but I realize that I am not entirely in the group of recipients of this device. Sure, you can always throw plastic and say “I take”, but looking at it in common sense – Nintendo Switch OLED will be the most interesting option for players who do not currently have a hybrid platform and want to play many fantastic Nintendo games.
At the same time, I have a problem with the latest offer of the Japanese – in recent weeks I have spent tens (or maybe even hundreds) of hours with the Nintendo Switch, mainly holding the console in my hands. I played at home, in the store, in the park, at my in-laws, and even a few sessions in the car … And if I had free cash, I would probably reach for such equipment, because at least currently I spend most of my time on the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo Switch OLED is not a device for everyone, but even in this situation, at the end of the year, the body will enjoy enormous popularity. New players will decide on the offer, and probably even owners of classic models will want to experience their favorite games in a better edition – because OLED itself makes a difference here. All thanks to one of the greatest strengths of the Japanese – games. From the beginning of 2021, the market has been flooded with interesting, exclusive productions that are often missing from competing platforms.
