The regular model of the Nintendo Switch was sold 60 percent less: 1.3 million times, compared to 3.3 million times last year. The Nintendo Switch Lite was also sold a lot less (600,000 units compared to 1.14 million). The new OLED model, which was released last October, sold 1.5 million units.

According to Nintendo, the declining sales figures are due to problems with the production of chips. The company expects that to improve at the end of the summer and the beginning of the autumn.

Nintendo also saw sales decline in software sales. With 41.5 million games sold, there was a decrease of 8.6 percent.

In recent months, some new titles from Nintendo have appeared. Nintendo Switch Sports was the best-selling (4.84 million units), followed by Mario Strikers: Battle League (1.91 million) and Kirby and the Forgotten Land (1.88 million).

Remarkably enough Mario Kart 8 Deluxe unabatedly popular, although it is already five years old. Nintendo sold 1.48 million copies of the game in the past quarter. It remains the most popular Switch game, with a total of 47 million copies.
