News business Nintendo of America targeted by a complaint: the manufacturer strikes back

There is the other side of the decor and the one we imagine. By its playful aspect and its young side, the world of video games has long been spared from scandals, but since the media has turned into an industry, not a month goes by without a case breaking out. Endless hours, sexism, harassment, embezzlement… the video game universe has always had its dark areas, but real-time information makes it much more difficult to slip through the cracks today. . A few days ago, Nintendo of America was pinned by an ex-employee and his response was immediate.

A few days ago, a former member of Nintendo of America, on condition of anonymity, launched a procedure against his former employer. For this, he approached the National Labor Relations Board, an agency of the American federal government which investigates cases related to illegal professional practices. Its role is to identify irregularities in companies to ensure that all labor market rules are respected. If not, it intervenes and undertakes to put in place procedures aimed at punishing the culprits. Suffice to say that it is better not to be in the eye of the storm. To strengthen his defense, the former Nintendo employee also turned to the recruitment organization Aston Carter, which works with the American subsidiary of the manufacturer. For now, the case is only in its infancy, but here is what we know.

NINTENDO OF AMERICA RESPONDS TO EX-EMPLOYEE’S LEGAL ATTACK

According to information relayed on the web, the former employee of Nintendo of America believes that he was the victim of numerous threats and pressures. While working for the American subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer, he was dangled with several promises that never came. From there, all would have been hellish pressure, unreasonable surveillance and threats of reprisals. Nintendo of America therefore wanted to react :

We are aware of the complaint that was filed with the National Labor Relations Board by a contractor who was previously fired for disclosing confidential information – and for no other reason. Nintendo is not aware of any attempted unionization or related activity and intends to cooperate with the NLRB’s investigation. Nintendo is committed to providing welcoming and positive working conditions for all of its employees and contractors. We take professional matters very seriously.

For the moment, the organization in charge of the investigation has not started its investigations and many undisclosed elements remain unresolved. But as we say in these cases, the case will be closely followed because new information could be revealed soon.
