The new console Nintendo could be embroiled in a series of legal disputes in Europe on behalf of suspected systematic failures in the controls of the device, something that the authorities of the Old Continent begin to relate to a case of planned obsolescence.
According to the portal DeporPlay, the Netherlands Consumers Association, backed by nine other organizations, has collected nearly 2,500 complaints from users who report problems with the peripheral control of the Switch.
The control entities propose a dialogue with Nintendo to establish agreements. If they fail, they will resort to lawsuits against the company.
“Nintendo continues to sell its consoles with the same problems and is not taking any particular steps to fix it. As far as we are concerned, things are being done wrong. […] We made this decision because we believe the Switch is not going to be a console that lasts as long as gamers expect. In addition, the options to fix it are limited, and sometimes consumers are forced to have access to expensive parts, ”they argue.
The Dutch organization was joined by associations from Belgium, France, Greece, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Italy and the general European organization BEUC, as pointed out Nintenderos.
