Nintendo Direct E3 2021 – What we expect and what we know

Nintendo Direct E3 2021 has us impatient, excited and a bit anxious. We are made a whole cocktail of feelings with the presentation of those from Kyoto because, leaving aside Splatoon 3 and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, or the imminent Mario Golf, Switch users do not have great weight throws in sight. This is the perfect time to change our minds.

Moment that may come from the hand of a certain more powerful revision, although the company has already established that they will focus on the software during this presentation. Nintendo Direct E3 will kick off tomorrow, Tuesday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m. EDT. Of course, you can Follow it with us through our direct page from 17:30, time at which we will start with our previous one. Then there will be a 3-hour Treehouse, although you can also follow it with us and join us in the post-show.

And what do we hope to see this time? Many things. Here are our predictions, hopes and dreams for ND E3 2021:

Nintendo Direct E3 2021 predictions and announcements

What do we expect

  • At least one new character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. They are already a tradition of each Direct of the Japanese company.
  • June is the month for the first DLC in the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Cataclysm Expansion Pass. We do not expect a ‘shadow drop’, but we do expect the date and more details about its contents … with a nod to BotW2?
  • Splatoon 3 already showed off the tentacle during a Nintendo Direct earlier this year with a release window for 2022. We look forward to learning more about this sequel and hopefully having a release date.
  • Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 would be the perfect Christmas gift, and also the desired Christmas hit, to close the 35th anniversary year of the franchise. In addition, today is just five years since we discovered the name of BotW in that magical trailer. Although Aonuma warned that Skyward Sword HD was sneaking because we would have to wait longer for the big sequel (which breaks our Christmas dreams), Nintendo ‘must’ show how the project is going no matter how much it goes to 2022.

What do we want

  • Mario Kart 9 has been playing very strongly in the run-up to E3 2021, but we are not quite sure that it will be like that, especially seeing how well Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sells.
  • We look forward to taking a more in-depth look at Pokémon Shiny Diamond and Shimmering Pearl, as well as Pokémon Legends Arceus, even if it’s during the Nintendo Treehouse section.
  • It would not be bad to see Game Boy Advance or Nintendo 64 games for Nintendo Switch Online, especially seeing how poor the latest transfers have been in the NES and SNES catalog.
  • We’d love to see some remasters of The Legend of Zelda classics, and more so seeing as Skyward Sword hasn’t been welcomed with open arms among fans. Time for the Twilight Princess and Wind Waker to go out for a walk? Better bet on Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask? Or, why not all of them on the occasion of the anniversary?
  • Also being the 35th anniversary of Metroid, Samus points to ways to come back with some game, and a new 2D Metroid is rumored with great force as Retro takes his time for Prime 4. Will MercurySteam return?
  • Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope has already been announced by Ubisoft. With this spatial setting we want to think that the stellar appearance of the team Star Fox it is more a question of when than if it will finally happen. It may be a surprise for later …

Our crazy predictions

  • Capcom has in hand a Resident Evil thought to come out first on Nintendo Switch. They may get ahead of them today, or they may let Nintendo play this card too.
  • A new 3D or 2D Donkey Kong developed by the team, or part of the team, from Super Mario Odyssey has been around for a long time. Although it seems too beautiful to be true.
  • Where is that Nintendo Switch Pro that was going to be announced before E3? Maybe it was going to be during, not before.
  • The new season of Fortnite is about alien invasions, and there is a certain bounty hunter who knows how to fight them perfectly. Samus, are you joining Fortnite?
  • We have been waiting for the Bayonetta 3 release date for four years now. Please, Nintendo, end our suffering.
  • A new fitness game using the Joy-Con, seeing the popularity of Ring Fit Adventure, would be a good addition.
  • At the bottom of our hearts there is still room to buy a Nintendo 64 Mini.
  • We’d love to see more of Metroid Prime 4, although it looks like it’s going to take even more time due to its development restart. How about a snack with the trilogy in HD?
