Nintendo has confirmed the closure of its offices in Toronto, Ontario and Redwood City, California.
In a statement to the edge, US Nintendo confirmed the change, which was first reported by Kotaku Friday:
Nintendo of America is headquartered in Redmond, Washington, and Vancouver, British Columbia. We are moving more of our staff and operations to these headquarters and will close our small satellite offices in Toronto, Ontario, and Redwood City, California over time.
Devon Pritchard, executive vice president of commercial and publisher relations at Nintendo of America (NOA), will assume interim leadership of sales, marketing and communications following the departure of Nick Chavez. Ms. Pritchard will oversee the strategy and implementation of sales, marketing and communications in the United States and Canada.
Kotaku He also mentioned that the decision would result in the removal of around 100 employees from the Redwood City offices – the impact of the shutdown on Toronto employees is unclear. However, it also appears that some employees will be able to move to other headquarters (such as Vancouver, BC).

Redwood City and Toronto offices remain in Nintendo of America Jobs Site. Nintendo describes the Redwood City location as the location of its sales and marketing departments, while the Toronto location is the “NOCL sales office”.
