Nintendo and Universal are in advanced talks to close a deal to produce a Legend of Zelda movie.
As reported by American film critic Jeff Sneider, Universal and Illumination are close to closing a “big deal” with Nintendo to adapt the popular franchise.
Sneider explained in the podcast The Hot Mic that “It looks like Zelda is going to be the next big franchise from Illumination and Nintendo”, after the huge success of the adaptation of Super Mario Bros.
This, however, will not be cheap. “It’s going to cost Universal a lot of money,” Sneider said. The reason, of course, is the more than 1,300 million dollars that the Mario movie has raised, which has not only become the most successful adaptation of a video game in history, but also the second most popular animated film. grossed at all times, surpassing films like Frozen, The Minions or Toy Story 4.
“Nintendo knows its value right now, but yeah, they tell me this is going to be a reality.”
With the Zelda movie almost confirmed (although it will still be a long time to see it in theaters), now the pools and wish lists will begin to see who will be in charge of giving voice to their characters. Do you have any crazy bets? Any actor or actress that you would like to see giving life to Zelda or Ganon? Will Link speak in the movie?
