Ninja Pass is no longer valid in Vienna

Hacker: Vienna continues to be stricter than the federal government – regulation comes this week – fighting “like the bear” against the new lockdown “GreenCheck” presented for control.

The Vienna City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) presented the future Corona regulations in the federal capital today at the presentation of the “GreenCheck” app. School-age children from twelve to 15 years of age must provide evidence of 2.5G, i.e. be vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested (PCR is valid 48 hours from acceptance). The ninja pass is not valid for this age group as 2G proof until the end of the week, it said.

Vaccinated people

The corresponding Vienna ordinance is currently being fine-tuned and will definitely come this week, announced Hacker. As a result, Vienna continues to have stricter measures than the federal government. Most recently, it was said in the room that 2G was being introduced in Vienna for kids from the age of twelve. But that is not happening now, according to reports, the coalition partner, i.e. NEOS, has spoken out in favor of a 2.5 G rule – since at 2G some school events cannot be attended by non-vaccinated people.

2G proof

The nationwide rule as a reminder: The ninja pass is equivalent to the 2G proof and is therefore also valid as proof of access to the restaurant, to cultural events or to cable cars. After completing the ninth year of school, young people must also have a 2G certificate in order to gain access to the respective areas. In Vienna, on the other hand, outside of the school area, only the PCR tests completed as part of the Ninja Pass apply to young people from the age of twelve – with a period of validity of 48 hours each.

Within three days

The reason for the Viennese measure is the possibility of vaccinating from the age of twelve; almost half of the approximately 70,000 children in Vienna in the relevant age group have already been vaccinated. The 36,500 unvaccinated children in this age group could be vaccinated within three days. The incidence among 12 to 15-year-olds is increasing sharply, currently it is 626. Over 400 children in this age group fall ill every week. The vaccination of the younger children is currently being prepared, and the vaccination serum will be reduced by the doctors according to the child’s body weight.

3G

Nothing will change for children under the age of twelve; the compulsory test in Vienna will remain in place from the age of six. Six to eleven year olds can use their fully picked ninja pass until the end of the week, so 3G applies to them (antigen 48 hours, PCR test 72 hours).

In general, the city council has highlighted the efforts in the fight against the corona pandemic. “We’re fighting like a bear against another lockdown,” Hacker told journalists at Cafe Frauenhuber in Vienna. A large part of the Viennese were there and supported the measures: “The Viennese got it,” said the city council.

Lockdown

The number of infections is currently rising sharply and there is no end in sight. There is another outbreak of the pandemic. In Vienna over the last few weeks they have fought to ensure that the initial level of infections is as low as possible, and with many test activities and regulations they have tried to break the chains of infection as early as possible. Hacker pointed out that it was too early to decide on a new lockdown now, referring to the federal government’s step-by-step plan.

When asked about the possibility of going into the home office, he said that many companies are already doing this. In his opinion, working from home is not good for too much and for too long.

The app “GreenCheck” for checking the vaccination, test or recovery status was demonstrated on the spot in the Wiener Cafe Frauenhuber. The advantage of the free downloadable app is that it is associated with the absolute security that the current rules are always used in the background. With the tool, the status of a person can be checked quickly via smartphone, hand scanner at events or a fixed station, for example at the company entrance. Information on this is available on the Internet at greenchecker.at. Everything was developed by ITSV GmbH, the IT services of the social insurance.
